January 1986 was a great month for snowmobiling and congratulations to our new Miss Sno-Eagle 1986, Carmen Safford.

 

Sno-Eagles once again hosted the Derby Dance on Friday of Derby weekend, a tradition that has been going on for many years along with a Derby ride-in starting at Persian Paradise.

The 1986 budget was approved with an estimated income of $46,000 and estimated expenses of $45,000. This will be the first year of printing a trail map, with estimated income of $18,000 and printing costs of $12,000. Again, the plan is to give Headwaters Trails $5,000 and the groomer replacement fund $5,000.

The Derby Dance showed a profit of $2,000 for the club. Jim Ayers was selected to be the Vilas County delegate to AWSC conference. Fourteen couples attended the February Weekend Away at Circle Hills.

The Spring Fling dinner dance is planned for April 19. Hats off to John & Carol LaBelle for a wonderful Spring Fling dinner dance that raised funds for the club and was a thank you to our landowners on our trail system.

The Deckers’ announced that they are going to run snowmobile races at the Derby on July 5-6, 1986. At the June meeting the Board decided to again participate in the July 4 parade and activities, the County Fair Food Booth and to replace the Bombardier SV 252 for the new year.

Chief Sparse Feathers (Jim Ayers) is again for the 15th time planning the canoe race at Sportsman’s Chalet. Women on Snow hosted by the Flying Femmes will take place January 30, 1987. The food booth at the County Fair gave the club a $3,000 profit.

October starts a new year for the club and new officers.
Elected President, Tom Berner; VP Leon Kukanich; Secretary Paula Hendrickson; Treasurer Audrey Stearns; and directors Joyce Roxbury, John LaBelle, Ron Hollnagel and George Hallis. A Sno-Eagle Party/Hayride is being planned for October 25. Revised Bylaws will be approved at the October meeting.

At the AWSC conference in Oconomowoc our Miss Sno-Eagle Carmen Safford was crowned Miss Snowflake. The Weekend Away is being planned for the Cutlass Motor Inn in Antigo.
The cost will be $85.00 for 2 people for the weekend, room and meals.
