The January 1989 membership meeting featured many “thank you’s” going out to members who helped in trail signs and maintenance, bridge abutment construction, Christmas Party, and many other functions of the year.

Mindy Willis was selected Miss Sno-Eagle 1989 from a group of seven young ladies. Joe Rose is planning a cookout and ride to christen the new bridge at Buckatabon Creek in January. Sally Ayers & Harry Lee are organizing the Derby Fling with a torchlight ride to benefit the new Snowmobile Hall of Fame in St. Germain.

Joyce & Ace Roxbury are planning the Overnight Trail Ride to the Holiday Inn at Hurley, Feb. 21-22. Leon & Edie Kukanich are planning the Weekend Away to Tuelpos Copper Drift Lounge in Bruce Crossing for Mar. 3-5.

Bob & Carole Tallar are planning the Spring Fling at Char-Lou supper club for May 13. George Hallis, Pat Freeman and Tom Berner will be handling the winter snowmobile map sales and getting map ads.

The summer had the Sno-Eagles involved in the July 4th parade, food booth, and the annual canoe trip. As last year’s hayride was more fun than a barrel of monkeys, Tom Berner will organize a hayride again for this October.

During the October membership meeting a slate of new officers was elected. George Hallis President, Joe Rose VP, Joyce Blaser Treasurer, Sally Ayers Secretary, with Jim Gresch, Elmer Jensen, Edie Kukanich and Randy Walker elected directors. Trail brushing was set for Oct. 21. The Hayride turned out to be great fun, riding from the White Spruce to Bauer’s Dam.

The Christmas Party and club Safety School was planned. Big news to members, Sno-Eagles in conjunction with Headwaters Trails, have installed a telephone hotline for up to date snowmobile trail conditions. The number is 715-479-5185. This is the same number used today. In December the new Snowmobile Trail Maps were available for sale, a big thank you to George Hallis. The annual poker run will be held at the Hiawatha Supper Club Dec. 27.
